2015 ISC Tues. G18 Sgls

First I apologise for not posting Caty vs Alex & Kat vs Ena recaps, forgot and was pressed for time, but still.

Already 6:30 so briefly. I did see Caty last year at EB, but she totally impressed me. Could actually hang with Alex, and could do everything well. Lots of points were ended by Alex making errors after intense rallies.

Ena was serving well, and coupled with her usual relentless aggression, could win the 1st set. But Kat was just too good, attacking Ena's serve too methink.

Confirmed it was Nze, former Duke star who was working, so said hello and had a nice chat! Also said hello to Ken, and joked about dreading Caro coming to UCLA as a SC fan to coach Bernstein, she said she wouldn't mind getting Caro at all!

Scores courtesy of Steve Pratt:

Girls' 18 Singles (Round of 64)
Jessica Hinojosa Gomez  def.  Stephanie Hazell (Irvine, CA)  7-6(1), 6-4

Jenna Friedel (Mill Valley, CA)  def.  Gabriella Pollner (Boca Raton, FL)  7-5, 4-6, 6-1

Couldn't watch since it was played at crt18, only the last game or so.

Caroline Dolehide (8) (Hinsdale, IL)  def.  Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, ME)  6-0, 6-2
Ingrid Neel (7) (Bradenton, FL)  def.  Helen Altick (Monroe, LA)  6-3, 6-3
Caty McNally (Cincinnati, OH)  def.  Alexandra Sanford (10) (Westerville, OH)  6-3, 7-5
Emma Higuchi (Los Angeles, CA)  def.  Meible Chi (Weston, FL)  6-1, 7-6(5)
Sonya Kenin (2) (Pembroke Pines, FL)  def.  Mimi Levine (Santa Monica, CA)  6-0, 6-1

Usue Arconada (1) (Rio Piedras, PR)  def.  Riley McQuaid (Tustin, CA)  6-1, 6-1

Couldn't watch, so can't really say, but when I glimpsed Usue was better.

Amanda Anisimova (Hallandale Beach, FL)  def.  Mia Horvit (13) (Palm City, FL)  6-2, 6-4
Chiara Lommer (Skokie, IL)  def.  McKenzie Majerle (Paradise Valley, AZ)  4-6, 6-1, 6-3
Rachel Lim (Briarcliff Manor, NY)  def.  Sabrina Faybyshev (Marlboro, NJ)  6-1, 6-1

Morgan Coppoc (Tulsa, OK)  def.  Alexandra Sabe (Rye, NY)  3-6, 6-3, 6-3

So Morgan won that critical game at 3-3 in the 3rd, left before it was concluded. As I said, she's also mentally strong!

Ndindi Ndunda (Burke, VA)  def.  Tereza Koplova (Bradenton, FL)  6-3, 6-4
Maria Mateas (15) (Braintree, MA)  def.  Andrea Kevakian (Glendale, CA)  6-7(5), 6-2, 6-0

Seira Shimizu (Ojai, CA)  def.  Alana Smith (Fort Washington, MD)  6-4, 6-1

Wait this is not yesterday's score.. oh well.

Pedraza vs Favero

Crt14 so watched this first then again later in the 2nd. Tantrum or no tantrum she's one of my favorites and showed why aplenty yesterday. Drove well, and actually could suddenly up the pace. Drop shot too, excellent disguise, love the form too. As usual, nice point construction. That paid dividends later in doubles, but F as usual was a brick wall lol.
P did later make hilarious tantrums so she still wins the title of tantrum queen, but overall, rather restrained haha.
Later saw Camille taking pics of her family, so I guess she won.

McKenzie def. Branstine

Finished too fast, too bad. I thought Car was leading in the 1st, she was troubling  Kylie aplenty with her aggression. But later when I came back in the 2nd, Kylie was fairly overwhelming Car with her usual orgasmic groundies haha. Left then, so didn't see the final moments so asked Alaina. She was cupping a small bug!  LOve of Nature! :) All I can think of as abirder is that it'll be a nice snack for the birds!!

Russo def.Letzt

Only could watch the final game,  it was quite even. MP was the best, Alex decided to attack but R returned everything, won the long rally. She's quite emotional haha, as her dad! :)

Abi vs Karina

Abi served well, employed angles, etc, drove very well. Drive volley seems attackable but was solid anyway. Katrina just couldn't return serve well, but fought hard, so the match was getting interesting in the 2nd when I left.

Switkes vs Emma

Too bad couldn't see much, S was returning very well, as usual slicing. Could even attack well. I do hope E plays EB.

Gordon Bourguignon

Why did I think it was Friedel lol. G's usual game, won the rallies by returning everything.

Goulak vs Hauger

H could paint the lines, but G drove well as usual, even making a winner after long rallies.

Day vs Lahey

L is one of the most exciting players to watch now. Fantastic net approaches and aggression. D as usual returned extremely well, so it was a fun match. Coach Gallien watched this.

Veronica vs Liu

Could watch later, V was actually pretty good. L as usual made errors, biggest difference between her and Cici.

Sewing vs Chang

Luckily could watch the final moment, earlier didn't bother after finding out S was leading. S's drives clipped the net lol, and her variety was also damn impressive. C as usual made errors.
