Gullickson chooses UVA

Reported on TRN.

Nice recruiting by UVA;

Where did Faure go?  Anyhow, per class;

Olivarez
Mercer
Chang Susi Kelley
Gullickson

Not bad at all. Of course they'll terribly miss those current  seniors next season, but UVA keeps recruiting nicely.

Rather shocking result lol. Don't really know Aiava, but Hand isn't quite known for her power..she has been pretty outstanding this year.

R3

(1)Anna Kalinskaya (RUS) d. (wc)Caty McNally (USA) 75 76(9)

I said McNally is like Claire Liu of her class; just stands out with her huge game.

(8)Maia Lumsden (GBR) d. Kylie McKenzie (USA) 75 62

Lumsden defeated two very good players in Altick and McKenzie.

(Q)Madison Battaglia (USA) d. (14)Jessica Hinojosa Gomez (MEX) 63 63

Battaglia keeping her good form from Team and National I see.

(6)Iryna Shymanovich (BLR) d. (Q)Clarissa Hand (USA) 61 61

(5)Vera Lapko (BLR) d. (11)Valeriya Zeleva (RUS) 75 60
Kelly Chen (USA) d. (13)Ioana Diana Pietroiu (ROU) 62 62
(Q)Amanda Anisimova (USA) d. (wc)Abigail Desiatnikov (USA) 64 75

Anisimova definitely is the player of the tournament lol. Look who she has beaten so far; Potapova, Pollner, and Desiatnikov. All older than her, and all very good players. Wait a minute Anisimova defeated Desiatnikov first..before Branstine could do it haha.

 (2)Tereza Mihalikova (SVK) d. Karman Kaur Thandi (IND) 63 60

Dbls, not as impressive. UCLA also isn't sending their players. UGA as well. #1 UA team decided to pull out, it seems. Lohan/Wagner did play dual #1, and Gavrilovska/Pierson did play at WAATC last year. Likewise, Olmos/Smith played during the Fall, at Regional and at NIIC.

I'm rather more interested in doubles; no clear favorite, maybe. None won a slam yet(Olmos has been to WAATC final with Scandalis; Kay to WAATC semi with Price). It's also too bad that only 8 teams are playing lol.
