Fullerton] Branstine def. Jankowski / UF routs USC

Q Alexa Ryngler d. (8) Ann Selim 7-6; 7-5

How old was Alexa? Haven't seen her play in a while, either.

Q (5) Devon Jack d. Katherine Nguyen 6-4; 6-2
Q (3) Carson Branstine d. (16) Mary Profit 6-2; 6-0

Q (1) Sydney Van Alphen d. Danielle Willson 6-2; 6-1
16 Alexa Ryngler d. (13) Elle Christensen 6-2; 6-0
16 (8) Ann Selim d. Jennifer Kerr 6-0; 6-2
16 Katherine Nguyen d. Alyssa Grijalva 6-3; 4-6; 10-8
16 (5) Devon Jack d. (15) Jovana Kuljanin 6-2; 6-0
16 (16) Mary Profit d. Valerie Valencia 6-4; 6-3

16 (3) Carson Branstine d. Cali Jankowski 6-2; 6-7; 10-2

Ahahhahaha! Cali won a set...! Didn't I say it should be good lol.  Too bad I missed this marquee match.  Cali hits fh like Kyle McPhillips imo; generates power from the waist up, using torque or something.  And like Alaina, practicing volleys to finish weak returns(during her match against Ryan); obviously the way to go, just like Claire Liu is doing so well now. :)  If you are a big hitter, naturally you want to keep the points short.

16 Danielle Willson d. (9) REGINA PITTS 7-6; 6-2
16 (1) Sydney Van Alphen d. Dominique Stone 6-2; 6-1

VA vs Car should be good. I need to spot that Common Ground-Dove lol. But why do they play at FTC? Ughh..hope parking is available across the street..

Wow Chan/Hayer defeated Goldsmith/Kuo, quite a feat imo. Hayer winning everything now, eh? :)

What Booth/Simon defeated Jack/Soli? What a shocker. And forced a TB against Mossmer/Wan...! In fact they won the first set...lol.

Anyway, can USC get both Car and Cali or something lol. Because USC desperately needs power. Always has. See?

As I said, I don't wanna imagine what'll happen at singles #1 next season after Gugu graduates. Thought Meredith might step up..well, we'll see next season lol.

Anyway what a fight from Zoe. She always plays the Summer Circuit. Hard work bears fruit.

If USC also gets SJ along with Car and Cali..one can dream lol. Of course it'll never happen, what with Stanford and UCLA snatching all those Cal. native power hitters, but as I said, one can dream :p

Because one can't win without power. Lindsey Nelson was the most successful Trojan in recent years; back to back NCAA singles finalist. When one can hit that well, who needs variety lol.
Embree and Capra won and they weren't especially powerful? But they were MASSIVE talents in junior years; they participated in SENIOR SLAMS, FO and USO, remember?
