Xepoleas / Di Lorenzo doubles / PEPP at UCLA preview

Was that Meredith who wore a USC cap at PVCC day 2? Not sure, maybe it was another..parent?

Lol. Anyhow, USC needs her; I'd say desperately. USC is not like Stanford or Florida loaded with talent. Well, Vandy didn't have world beaters, neither did Ohio State(well Di Lorenzo is NIIC champ, but except her), so who knows, but I don't have too much confidence in current USC without Meredith's firepower. Without her securing #6 USC couldn't have made it to #1 last season.
But her playing bottom of the lineup isn't attractive to me either lol. Big hitters should play upper positions, where they belong. So she really needs to step up and fulfill her potential. Here's to hope.

----

So, Di Lorenzo with Sneed is cruising. I wonder if they really are the 3rd best doubles team in OSU lol.  If they continue to play that position, I doubt whether they can make NCAA doubles, at all.
NCAA doubles without Di Lorenzo? Ridiculous lol, but we'll see how it pans out. Will OSU 'sacrifice' Di Lorenzo, just like USC did to Xepoleas in singles last season, to secure the Team win.

----

Hope the match doesn't rain out.
I really didn't think ASU's top 4 singles positions all would lose against Pepperdine lol. Really thought Krawczyk/Jump/Panoho could do something, at least one of them, possibly two.

Anyway, logically(imo of course), Pepperdine has chance to win all positions against UCLA other than two; dbls #1 and sgls #2.

Former NIIC winner Cat/Kyle are simply too powerful. They won't allow sluggish plays to go unpunished, so Matea/Christine should be extra alert from the get-go.  Otherwise, they could get blitzed by. I'm not sure Gugu/Gabby can win against this Bruins duo either. Did they ever lose to Trojans during their college career? Let's check out;

Trojans generally got slaughtered.  You don't have power, hopeless. It's not like the Bruins are deficient in variety and defense either, so..

Note that De Simone has two wins against them with different partners(Lao and Katz), that's damn impressive lol.  De Simone was a good mover, and hence defender; maybe she could neutralize the Bruins' attacks.

But can the Waves? They're both tall, so mobility could be a problem. Maybe attacking is the best defense in their case. Maybe they could approach the net and occupy it, using their height; but of course the Bruins will try to pass and pierce 'the wall' should they attempt it. Should be interesting.

Anyway the Bruins duo are 6-0 this season, so far.

Laura Gulbe is a good mover and returner, but everything she does, Kyle can do better. Kyle is also the bigger hitter. Unless Kyle has an off-day, don't see how Laura can beat her.

That's it. The Waves can win ALL other positions lol.

Gugu and Desirae failed to stop Luisa Stefani, who is definitely one of the best players in the nation. Can Cat do it; theoretically she can, since she has enough power. Let's not forget her drop shots either. Serve should be clicking against a very good server like Luisa.

That position is still a toss-up; methinks the crucial positions are, aside from doubles, singles #3 and 4.

Matea vs Alaina
Dzina vs Kristin

I wonder if Matea can handle Alaina's firepower. But she evidently had no problem dealing with Cat's drive bombs at SW Regional, so it'll be an another tough test for Alaina. Could be a cracking match, what with both being able to produce impressive pace.

Methinks Dzina is the more solid player here; but we'll see how it goes.
