2016 Abierto Juvenil Mexicano; Tale of Two Texans

I can't seem to replay the videos(girls singles. Haven't seen one match).

SJ won it all, but two Texans were prominent, Douglas and Zein, both class of 2018. Class of 2014 standouts Porter and Vazquez haven't quite 'panned out' so far(both college juniors now, already! How time flies), we'll see about these two.

It's not like it's a total surprise, since Douglas has defeated both Higuchi and Shibahara en route to EB final this year, and Zein has defeated Altick, Shin and Bolton en route to quarterfinals at EB(narrowly lost to Hanna Chang).

By the way SJ added UCLA to her interest at TRN.

Ellie DOUGLAS (USA) [11] 6-4 2-6 6-3 Kayla DAY (USA) [2]

Quite a win, of course, curious how it went. Let's see if I can actually watch this..

Semifinal
Taylor JOHNSON (USA) [8] 7-5 7-6(5) Amanda ANISIMOVA (USA) [3]

Ellie DOUGLAS (USA) [11] 6-4 1-6 6-3 Claire LIU (USA) [4]

Douglas is killing all those elite Asians lol. Has she defeated Ann Li before.

Final
Taylor JOHNSON (USA) [8] 6-2 2-6 6-4 Ellie DOUGLAS (USA) [11]

Douglas also struggled a bit on her serve in EB final(but she's not a bad server, per se). Really should try to watch all those matches.

Anyway SJ is a surprise winner; she always had power, but thought consistency might be her issue. But both her and Car has had massive talents; the reason why I dubbed those duo as 'Les enfants terribles' haha.
