Birding this week

Why is Arizona gas price so much cheaper yet McDonald's is more expensive.

I really thought this bird was that notoriously secretive Black Rail(West Pond near California/Arizona border just NW of Laguna Dam) but Guy McCaskie corrected me, saying it's a downy American Coot young, ugh.

Is Spring migration unusually late this year. At So. Cal,, White-eyed and Yellow-throated Vireo, Wood Thrush(nailed it at Big Morongo! So easy peasy), Ovenbird, Northern Parula, Chestnut-sided Warbler are being reported. Just came back from Playa Vista, definitely heard the White-eyed Vireo but just couldn't actually see it, it's so skulky.
So no time for either RG or NBA Final(haven't seen one match of RG, and only watched the 1st set of NBA Game 1).

Jon Feenstra reported a Pectoral Sandpiper at Piute, so might bird there again, this time should bird early to avoid a later customary heavy gust.
