2017 National] G16 Singles 8/9

16 Connie Ma d. Gracie Mulville 6-3; 6-7(6); 6-0

Good match. Couldn't watch as much as I liked, but still watched enough(some 1st and 2nd set).
Mulville's excellent variety was good enough to harass Ma. Both moved well, Ma is really fast. Slides well too, and she just does everything well. Terrific hitter.
16 (8) Lauren Stein d. (17) Britt Pursell 6-1; 1-6; 6-2

Pursell won a set? Wow.

16 (3) Emma Navarro d. (17) Kylie Collins 7-5; 6-2
16 (9) Angelica Blake d. Katherine Duong 6-1; 6-1

16 (33) Maggie Cubitt d. (16) Ava Hrastar 4-6; 6-4; 6-2

I'm getting senile, part 2; I thought this was a Consolation match so stupidly waited for a long time for a match TB to start lol. Belatedly realized this was MD, so hurriedly left to cover other matches, and came back at 3rd set C lead 3-2.
Not a very HQ match I'm afraid! Gazillions of errors haha. Both could target the corners at will, and dunno, maybe C was a tad better mover?  Clemson, Vandy, and other coaches watched this(can't consult the notes now, can't bother it's already 6am. Had a good night's sleep!).

16 (4) Sedona Gallagher d. (33) Katrina Scott 7-5; 6-4

I was shocked to discover Scott won the 1st set. Watched from the baseline shaded seat at the stadium, along with Crawley vs Y. Plenty of rallies, and S was quite aggressive, as well. That's damn impressive performance against G, although G did commit some errors when I watched.

16 (14) Nikki Redelijk d. (33) Carmen Corley 6-2; 2-6; 6-1

Quite an upset. Only could watch the later 3rd a bit, so can't really form a coherent impression. R is a good defender though.

16 (1) Fiona Crawley d. (17) Alexandra Yepifanova 6-1; 3-6; 7-5

At first C was rather cruising with her aggression, but Y moved well and showed good variety. C is also a good server. Only watched a bit of the 1st eating muffin.

R4 anna Roggenburk d. (17) Anessa Lee Wo (inj)
R4 (17) Zoe Howard d. (33) Stephanie Nguyen 4-6; 6-3; 10-3
R4 (33) Nikita Vishwase d. Sydni Ratliff 6-1; 6-2

R4 (33) Maxi Duncan d. (17) Maryam Ahmad 4-6; 6-0; 13-11

Duncan won it? This match seemed neverending, couldn't really watch though.

R4 Lindsay Hung d. (33) Yolanda Lin 6-3; 6-2
R4 (12) Reilly Tran d. (17) MariaCecilia Aguiar 6-2; 6-2

R4 (7) Dasha Kourkina d. (17) Jenna DeFalco 4-6; 6-3; 10-3

Watched a bit. Is it my illusion but I thought K was quite powerful at EB. This tournament she was on the defensive against Billman and now the younger DeFalco...but I guess just that B and D are good players.

R4 (17) Michelle Sorokko d. (17) Eryn Cayetano 3-6; 7-6(1); 10-6
R4 (33) Anna Campana d. (11) Julia Andreach 6-4; 6-1
R4 (33) Jaedan Brown d. Chloe Kuckelman 6-1; 6-0

R4 (6) Briana Crowley d. (17) Chidimma Okpara 6-2; 6-1

Crowley made it back to Barnes!

R4 Rachel Arbitman d. Esther Lovato 6-4; 6-4
R4 India Houghton d. (33) Muskan Mahajan Wo (inj)

 R4 (13) Addison Guevara d. (5) Carly Briggs 6-4; 6-0

This is not an upset. Was this played at Balboa? Too bad couldn't watch this. Marston House nearby has been a reputable site for the rare Hepatic Tanager...wonder if it's still there? No reports recently though. Haven't been to that area
R4 (15) Karina Miller d. Ellie Kuckelman 6-3; 6-3

R4 Hailey Stelse d. Jacque Dunyon 1-6; 6-2; 10-5

Stelse even defeated Dunyon???!!! No kidding. Must have a look today.

4Q anna Roggenburk d. (33) Marcella Cruz 6-2; 4-6; 10-3

Another upset.

4Q (17) Zoe Howard d. Jordana Ossa 6-0; 6-0

4Q Sydni Ratliff d. elizabeth stevens 7-6(4); 6-3

Just a bit but R was quite good actually.

4Q (33) Maxi Duncan d. Avantika Willy 6-2; 6-1

4Q Lindsay Hung d. (33) Kayla Wilkins 6-3; 7-5

Too bad I couldn't watch this more. Both good playes.

4Q (17) MariaCecilia Aguiar d. Elise Mills 6-2; 7-6(5)

A looked like quite a hitter herself. Also a glimpse.

4Q (7) Dasha Kourkina d. Allison Zipoli 6-4; 6-3
4Q (17) Eryn Cayetano d. (33) Rhea Shrivastava 6-1; 6-3
4Q (33) Anna Campana d. Casie Wooten 6-1; 6-2

4Q Chloe Kuckelman d. (33) Lahari Yelamanchili 1-6; 7-6; 10-6

4Q (6) Briana Crowley d. Demi Snyder 6-3; 6-3
4Q Rachel Arbitman d. Avery Durham 6-4; 6-2
4Q (33) Muskan Mahajan d. (33) Lana Mavor 6-2; 7-5

4Q (13) Addison Guevara d. (17) Emma Jackson 3-6; 6-3; 10-5

Jackson though young is such a promising player(already impressed me during Fed Cup). I mean she defeated Tatum definitely a good win by G.

4Q Ellie Kuckelman d. (10) Gianna Pielet 6-7; 6-2; 10-8

What the....???!!!  As I said the Kuckelman sisters seemed to be real good drivers the day before during the doubles match. I think I saw them a bit during the last National. Definitely have improved since then.

4Q Hailey Stelse d. (33) Vivian Cheng 4-6; 7-5; 10-5

Who is this Stelse. Another shocking upset.

Haven't showered yesterday night, well I managed to finish before 7am lol. Have to do it now. I may add some later after the tournament, we'll see.
